ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The AGM will take place on Sunday, Oct. 25th at 1 p.m. in the lounge. We need to ensure quorum so please register online under Club Events if you plan to attend. If you are unable to make it, you can designate a proxy to vote on your behalf. https://haliburtoncurlingclub.com/images/files/Board_Files/2026-10-25_AGM_Proxy_Form.pdf
ASK ME!
You may have noticed some club members with an “Ask Me” button on their jacket. This is a new program the club has introduced to help our new and novice curlers. If you have a question about the game, or the club, please reach out to one of these members. They are here to help!
SAVE THE DATE
Mark your calendars! A reminder that the club Christmas party will be held on Saturday, Dec. 12th. More details to follow, but we do know we can look forward to some fantastic music from club member Walter Borg’s band, Eddie Jackson and The Groove. If you want to check them out before December, they will be playing at Hook, Line and Sinker on Oct. 30 at 7 p.m.!
GO TEAM PHILIPPINES!
We’re thrilled to announce that club member Russ Duhaime has once again been named as coach for Team Philippines at the 2026 Women’s World Qualification Event in Ostersund, Sweden next month. It’s up to the team, featuring former club member Jessica Byers, to cover coaching expenses and they are currently fundraising to help with the costs. If you would like to contribute, please visit their website at https://women.curling.ph
LOCKERS AVAILABLE
A limited number of lockers are available on the men’s side. If you currently don’t have a locker and would like one, please contact Peter Osborne.
4-TOWNS BONSPIELS
The 4-Towns Mixed Bonspiel is being held at our club on Wednesday, Oct. 21st and we are still looking for some help in the kitchen. The sign-up sheet is on the side bulletin board in the lounge. If you missed out on the mixed, you can still sign up for both the Women’s and Men’s bonspiel on Nov. 11th. The women will play in Haliburton, while the men will be in Bobcaygeon.
MORE BONSPIELS!
The Haliburton Hammer will be held the weekend of November 14-15. There is no limit on the number of Haliburton teams, so if you’ve missed out on some other club bonspiels, here’s your chance! Details and registration info are available on the club's Bonspiels web page (https://haliburtoncurlingclub.com/index.php/bonspiels/2020-2021-bonspiel-status).
On November 21st, the club will be hosting a bonspiel for new(ish) curlers! This fun event will be open to any adult who has been curling 5 years or less. We encourage all of the Learn to Curl graduates, as well as this year’s participants, to take part! Coaching will be available, and you’ll be able to switch up your rotation mid-game. Get your teams together for this fun introduction to the wonderful world of bonspiels!
Anyone interested in helping plan and organize any bonspiels should reach out to Megan Bawn at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
LOOKING FOR ANOTHER GAME?
The Wednesday Pick-up League runs every Wednesday afternoon from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. If you would like try another role (like being a vice or skip), if you just want a little more ice time to practice those great shots you made in your weekly game, or if you’re recovering from an injury and want to ease back into play, then come out and try this no-commitment, pick-up league. If you want to play, please register each week under Club Events.
BETWEEN THE SHEETS
The monthly club newsletter is now being archived on the website, so if you need to find something from a previous communique, you’ll find them under Member’s on the website. Thank you to Stephen Orr for making this happen!
MISSING EMAILS?
If you know of someone who isn't receiving club emails, please ask them to notify Anne Hewitt and we will get them added to the mailing list.
