Good morning. I think you might get a shock when you realize that this newsletter is going to be short! What? Oh yes, my friend. I am super
busy working with all the directors, members, and crew to get our new and improved curling club and website ready for you!
As you are well aware (after a few emails from Kent), our registration is open for the upcoming season. Close to 55 members have already
registered and around 35 have used the option of paying online with Visa or MasterCard. This is great and encouraging. But this could
mean, we might have 200 people at the club on Friday wishing to register!
We are urging you to go into the Member’s homepage and click inside the BIG RED Box at the top of the page to register for your leagues. If
you just want to do that and not pay online, that’s fine. You will, however, have to either mail us a cheque (payable to Haliburton Curling Club) or come to the club on Friday, September 9th from 2pm – 7pm and pay in person.
If you print off your confirmation sheet and bring this with you, you will avoid long line ups on Friday. We will have a station set up that will
just be devoted to collecting your payment if you come with this sheet. This will be faster for you and give you more time to meet with friends,
and enjoy the refreshments. You might need your sunglasses as you gaze over our new lighting out in the curling rink. It is a phenomenal
I can’t get into the Member’s home page
This can be a pain, I know. This is what you do. Remember your user name is just your name with an underscore line between your first and
last name. (For example mary_hillaby) There are no spaces.
If you have forgot your password, there is a link there to click in the Member’s login box and the website will send you another password to
try. These passwords are usually not user friendly and contain “i’s” that could be “1’s”, etc. If it works, and you once again get into the
Member’s homepage there is a link on the right hand side called “My Information” and you can change your password to something you will
If all that fails, then please call Kent (905) 717-5677 or Mary (705) 754-1916 and we will help you get onto the website. We have already
been doing this for members and it is no problem, so please call us.
First session begins Monday, October 3 and ends Friday, November 25, 2016.
Second session begins Monday, November 28 and ends Friday, January 27, 2017.
Third session begins Monday, January 30 and ends Friday, March 24, 2017.
What are we doing to advertise our membership?
Hopefully you read the article in last week’s edition of County Life. We had a two page spread with pictures and information about our new
and improved curling club. Commercials and ads have and will appear in the Recreation Directory, the Highlander, Moose FM and Canoe
FM. Kent will be on the air today with Mike King at Canoe FM sometime between 3pm and 6pm. At the Home Show we also generated some
interest. Information is also available on the website.
The $99.00 special will once again be available for new members to our club. This promotional ad was very successful and we hope to gain
some more members this year. Of course, word of mouth can also be rewarding.
Our big day – Friday, September 9th from 2-7pm
This is a special day, not only for our members to come visit, register for leagues and make a payment, it is also our ribbon-cutting ceremony
to celebrate the new improvements that have been made over the past four months.
At 4pm, we will take 15 minutes to acknowledge the efforts that the club has put forth since April to make the necessary improvements and
upgrades to our ice making equipment and lighting throughout the club. Laurie Scott, our MPP, Dr. Rameesh Mahjita, our OTF rep and Jamie
Schmale our Federal rep will be here along with the media to participate in this event.
If you are coming around the 4pm time, it would be fun to wear your Haliburton Curling Club jacket so that any photo opportunity will show
our spirit, camaraderie and support for our club.
Registration will stop for this 15 minute break as our dignitaries will have a few words to say. Lots of food will, of course, be available
throughout the afternoon.
Who to call or email if you can’t make the Registration day?
When is the last day for me to register?
The first day of Session one is Monday, October 3rd. This is a couple days earlier than last year. To be fair to our drawmasters, you must
register by Sunday, September 18th.
We are asking that you register by this Friday so we have somewhat of a head count to let our drawmasters know if they may be looking at
one or two draws in their league for Session One.
What happens if I am not registering for Session One?
Even though we have offered all our members the opportunity to choose either a full membership, a two sessional membership or a one
session membership, it is wise to register your choice as soon as possible.
