Congratulations to everyone involved in the 43rd annual Highland Lassie Bonspiel this past Saturday, March 2, 2019. Nine out of town teams from St. George's, York, London Highland, Port Perry, Stroud, and Lindsay were greeted by 7 Haliburton ladies teams. The committee comprised of Sue Mason, Mary Hillaby, Jackie Bradbury, Wendy Hewson, Ferne Taylor, Jan Ashall, Rachel O'Neill, Laila Morse, Alison Curtis, Teresa Keefer, Carol Krieger, Marilyn Mackenzie, Linda Boore and Janet Boyne certainly worked hard to prepare for this great day.

Here are pictures of some of our hardworking committee members:

The overall 2019 winner was Lynn Childs (skip) from our club. Lynn brought her daughter, Carolyn Childs and her friend, Kristy Wuorisalo from Port Perry and Jane Johnston from Haliburton to join her team. Wanda Stephen, skip, placed third in her draw with her team of Alexis David, Ginny Carmichael and Nancy Walker.

Everyone enjoyed all the camaraderie, food and our drawmaster, Del Watson's Scottish garb. Many thanks to Jane Jaycock and all her work with the committee as well as the prize table contributions and the stained glass pieces she made herself. All the curlers certainly enjoyed her cakes!

The raffle table was overflowing with generous contributions from local businesses and members. There were 38 raffle prizes in all! That's amazing!

Many thanks to all the volunteers - ladies in the kitchen (Dianne Kelly, Lynn Ritchie, Sandra Duchemin, Sue Germa, Carol Krieger, Rachel O'Neill, Teresa Keefer, Jackie Bradbury), the men in the plaid bowties (Garth Krieger, Doug Wagg, Brian Hambly, Dave Chevrefils), and our ice technicians (Mitch, Doug and Garth).

Many thanks to our sponsor, Mitch Stephen from TMS Services and Wanda Stephen for preparing the program.

See you next year!
