CLUB IS CLOSED. PLEASE READ THE NOTE THAT WAS SENT TO ALL MEMBERS.
Kent sent the following note to all members Monday, March 16th in the afternoon. CURLING CLUB IS CLOSED EFFECTIVE TUESDAY, MARCH 17TH
On behalf of the Board I had promised to update everyone daily on COVID-19 and status of events at the curling club. Yesterday we reported that our window was closing fast and that we would curl only as long as the guidance we received indicated we could do so and there were no cases in the county.
Unfortunately, I believe that window has now closed. Although we still have no positive cases reported in this county, the Centre for Disease Control, a universally respected organization, has issued a directive today that they feel it prudent that all gatherings of 50 or more people be suspended for at least 8 weeks. I expect local authorities to follow with similar or even more restrictive directives in the near future.
The club will close for an indefinite period commencing Tuesday, March 17th. The balance of the session, playoffs, the closing bonspiel and rentals through May 15th are all cancelled.
The Home Show will be reassessed over the next few weeks but at this point it is still scheduled for the end of May.
Next week a crew will be on hand for ice removal. The club will be open next Monday and Tuesday morning and all day next Wednesday should you need to obtain personal items. Should you need access other than at these times please speak to one of the Board members.
The Board will discuss options over the summer and perhaps have an opening event next fall or a summer event in place of the pig roast. We will be back better than ever but for now we can only wish you a safe and healthy spring!
Thank you again for your understanding and support in difficult times.
